teak outdoor tables

The teak wood is one of the most commonly used materials to manufacture outdoor furniture. The lavish look it provides along with durability and strength is simply remarkable. There are a number of different types of teak wood and when you go out in the market to choose the teak outdoor tables for your backyard, you will find that there is a big variety in front of you. So, here are a few things that you must know about this wood and these will help you in making the right selection.

Machine vs semi-machine vs handmade

First of all, you need to consider selecting between machine, semi machine, and man made teak wood furniture. Whenever it arises in front of you, it is better to prefer fully machine made sets. The reason is that machines can be a lot more precise in making the stuff. It is slightly more expensive but it goes through strict processing. The wooden blocks are taken in right portions and cut precisely to make the furniture which assures that everything fits perfectly and there is no manufacturing flaw in your furniture. On the other hand, semi machine products use machines and manual labor to get the job done where the work depends on the skill of the labor. And lastly, the hand made totally depends on how good the craftsman is. However, it is the cheapest solution to teak wood furniture.

The grades of teak

There are three different categories in which the teak is graded known as A, B, and C grade.

The grade A teak is the most lavish one as it is the heartwood section. It is the most mature wood in the timber and comes with a uniform color which is much similar to ‘warm honey.’ Moreover, you will find this close grained wood a little oily to touch. The best thing about it is the density and the fact that it is rich in protective oils. This wood makes up around 20 to 25 percent of the mature log and furniture that comes with it is more expensive than other grades.

Then you have the grade B teak. It is a semi-mature part of the log which features the heartwood but is at its outer side. This one is a light dull in color and has a greater outlook variation as compared to grade A timber. It is a little less shiny and is not as oily as the higher grade with uneven grain. This one makes up around 30 to 35 percent of the log.

Lastly, you have the grade C teak which is used to refer to the outer part of the log. It is the living section of the tree which is used to supply water and minerals to the remaining part of it. This one is softer and tough and is pretty patchy in appearance. With a combination of light and dark color contrast, the teak outdoor tables with grade C timber are less durable and lack strength.
